Everyone loves to look at houses. After all, that is the fun part of being a Realtor. However, as a buyer, you should get pre-approved for a loan prior to starting your home search. This will allow you to know what you can afford and will also ensure you are ready to make an offer when you find the right house.
The pre-approval process is simple. Call a local lender and complete their application process. This is free, quick, and can usually be done online these days. The lender will then run your credit, check out your income and debt, and determine whether or not they can finance a home for you and if so, up to what price. Once you have the pre-approval letter, you have the golden ticket to start looking at homes with your Realtor.
